Üzümlü Kültür Merkezi'nden Bir Perspektif

The project was described as a "wedding hall" at the very beginning. In the center of Fethiye as well as in the surrounding villages, wedding halls are historically and culturally the places where the most important events take place. The old hall/area in Üzümlü was more like a single purpose building. Other than that, it was a useless, empty, lifeless space. On the other hand, a comfortable gathering place, especially for women, was a very obvious need. Therefore, stretching the definition of the project a bit, we started to think about what would be nice to have in Üzümlü. This is how the dream took form.

Some Frames:

In essence, the project went beyond being a single wedding hall and was seen as a center that would support the development of cultural and social life in Üzümlü. It was imagined as a place of attraction that would be a pleasure to be in, where events could be organized at any time, with protected and comfortable exterior spaces and useful and comfortable interior spaces. Instead of a huge building that belongs to another "place", it is a living center on a human scale that does not seem alien to its surroundings.
