At an altitude of 920 meters, Nif village is located in a wet and fertile basin and is one of the snow-falling regions of Fethiye, which can experience 4 seasons. Our priority was to design a self-sufficient, minimally dependent structure for the dynamic couple who wanted to spend their retirement here.Using passive design strategies for natural climate control and thermal comfort of the interiors, we envisioned a house that is energy and water efficient, has useful storage spaces, and is comfortable all year round, where the couple can paint, which is their special interest.

Site Plan:

Placement in Harmony with the Terrain: In the project, which was placed on the land by calculating the winter - summer sun angles and landscape direction, cross ventilation / natural air circulation was provided on the south-north axis of the main living area with the use of skylights.
Building Section:

Using passive design strategies for natural climate control, we envisioned a house that provides thermal comfort of the interior spaces, is energy and water efficient, has useful storage areas, and is comfortable all year round, where the couple can paint, which is their special interest.

The building envelope is not only a static, independent barrier separating the indoor and outdoor climate, but also an effective regulator of the balance between these two different environments. We revealed the shell with this feature. We emphasized its contribution to the quality of the space with its surface quality and natural plasters, and the perimeter of the space as an effective building element with its full-empty balance.

Sun Corner: The design of the winter garden located in the south direction, electricity generation with the use of solar panels, and the collection of rainwater collected from the roof in the mini pond in front of the winter garden were important points in the design process.
In line with all these efficient and effortless design strategies, the Farmhouse creates a home that protects from the sun in hot climates and keeps the heat inside in cold climates, offering indoor comfort in all seasons.

Plan:

Natural ventilation, reflection pond, thermal mass and the selection of local stone with high thermal capacity to contribute to it were the design elements considered to achieve a balance between the natural and built environment climate.
